Mahu Valley Trek- Khari Ramban
On 10th of May (Sunday), I trekked with a trekking group from Srinagar to Mahu Valley which is almost 34 Kms from Banihal. The place with exquisite beauty and serene atmosphere remains unexplored till now. We departed from Kulgam at 7.00 AM and by 9:00 AM we reached the Mahu Valley base camp. Upon the directions issued by the group leader, we came to know that the trek is moderate upto the elevation of about 900m. Further, it was told that the group will follow a circuit trek with a round distance of about 13 Kms.We started our trek with the guidance of 02 local boys who led us to beautiful meadows through refreshing drinking water riveruts. On the way stunning peaks of Hoen Heng of Kulgam and Angrez thum(highest peak in Ramban district) can be seen amidst the breathtaking scenes of the valley. We ascended through the steep rocky path to reach the Ashthaar and had lunch there. The Nature's clean and fresh water of the river fed by the glaciers made it an ideal place to sit, eat and take some rest.I descended down the top to reach the river and ate some mangoes there. As I finished eating, a murder of crows reached to eat peels of mangoes. Then, I performed Wadhu and prayed Zuhr Prayer. Ascended back to the peak to join my group where we resumed our circuit trek by descending down and moved rightwards to cross the river. We continued moving through the vast and scenic moments, reached to the Army post, waited there for the other group members who were left behind. Finally, resumed our trek at around 4:30 PM to reach the point where the circuit trek started. Some trek members started swimming under the cement bridge and it was good place to take a bath to get rid of the fatigue caused by the trekking.I and friend of Kulgam prayed Asr prayer in nearby Masjid and reached the minibus boarding point. This was one day trek to Mahu Valley.
