Hiking to Ambri Waterfall in Aafan Lolab Kupwara
On 13th of May 2026, I had to reach by 6:30 AM to Kupwara to participate in Pad yatra. after reaching there and attending the Yatra, I along with my friend decided to visit Lolab Valley particularly the areas of doban, Aafan, Diver and Gagal. As we tried to depart in my personal vehicle, the policemen patrolling party didn't allow us to go there and directed us to keep our vehicle away from the road. After, an hour or two, we were allowed after checking id card of my friend and finally We departed from Kupwara to reach the residence of my friend. Had lunch and reached to Aafan Lolab. As we parked our vehicle in courtyard of a local resident 's house, we started moving towards a waterfall called Ambri Waterfall and the beauty of this waterfall was that it seemed untouched by humans and unexplored at this point of time.Restes in the middle of the way and ate Samosas. Resumed our hike and reached near the waterfall. Actually it was not a single waterfall but many, so we climbed through the rocks and enjoyed seeing it from different points and at last we stopped, since it seemed endless. We captured some beautiful scenes of waterfall and Forests and by 5:30 PM we descended down to reach back to our starting point. The locals call it Kanninard and it was a delightful short hike.
We started again to reach Batanard located in Doban Lolab and the road leading to this place was very steep. Upon reaching there in the evening, we could observe the silence amidst the beauty of the forests. A local girl told us that One can reach Gurez after crossing the Forests in that area. Now, we decided to return back as it was late now.Reached back and hurried to Gagal Lolab where we decided to leave immediately without exploring as it was raining. And by 9:00 PM I returned back to Sopore.
